It is believed that the soil of Chapada dos Veadeiros is formed by a huge slab of millions of tons of quartz, which makes the region the perfect place to receive mystical and enlightened beings.
There is even a myth involving Nasa.
In the 1960s, some say that scientists from the US space agency contacted Brasilia to find out exactly what was in the soil of a region near Brasilia, because their satellites had picked up a very strong and unusual glow there.
Apparently, the quartz in the region is so abundant that its brilliance can be seen even beyond Earth’s orbit.
