The Best Restaurants in Chapada dos Veadeiros

share and comment:

Eating is one of the most important parts of a trip for us.
Who agrees and doesn’t already have a list ready?
Here are the best restaurants we visited in Chapada dos Veadeiros in November 2020.
The list includes Alto Paraíso and São Jorge, as we didn’t get to visit Cavalcante.
We always like to point out that in places with booming tourism, as is the case in Chapada at the moment, new establishments can open all the time and sometimes they don’t make our list.
So, if you’ve been there recently and have any new tips, let us know in the comments, so we can always update the map for you 🙂 From friend to friend, we liked the restaurants in São Jorge much better than those in Alto Paraíso.

At the end of the post, you’ll find the Googlemaps map with all the restaurants marked.
Just import it into your Googlemaps account and you’re ready for your trip!

Restaurants in Alto Paraíso

Alquimia na Chapada(@alquimianachapada)
vegetarian

The vegetarian self-service lunch is something for everyone.
Even if you’re not a fan of vegetarian food, Alquimia is definitely worth a try.
There are many options of salads, breads and hot dishes.
In the evening, the restaurant turns into a bistro and also serves pizza.
We didn’t get the chance to go there for dinner, but it was highly recommended.

Jambalaya(@jambalaya_chapadadosveadeiros)

Jambalaya is one of the most refined restaurants in Alto Paraíso, with a very gourmet and mouth-watering menu.
The candlelit atmosphere is super cozy and some days of the week there is a live band.
In times of holiday or high season, we suggest making a reservation.
The restaurant is only open for dinner.
Wednesday to Saturday from 7pm to 11pm

vendinha 1961(@vendinha1961)

One of the city’s most traditional restaurants, it is located on the main avenue and is open from lunch to dinner.
At lunchtime, the best option is to have a very well-served PF and try the house pastries.
At night, the restaurant is more like a bar, with live music and a lively atmosphere in the large outdoor area.
This is not the place if you are looking for gastronomic food, but rather to eat well in a lively atmosphere, with more traditional Brazilian food.

Cravo e Canela (@bistrocravoecanela)
vegan

With a 100% vegan proposal, Cravo e Canela offers super well-served (they’re really big!) and tasty dishes.
You’ll find several options for snacks, salads, hot dishes, juices and matcha, as well as a little shop full of delicious things to take home.
We were also very pleased with the service and atmosphere.

Chaupin Coworking and vegan snack bar (@centrochaupin)

Chaupin isn’t really a restaurant, but it does have a café and a very nice, modern atmosphere, which is worth a place on this list.
The establishment is a combination of coworking, snack bar and shared store, full of beautiful things.
If you’re looking for a place in the middle of the afternoon to sit down and have a snack, this is it.

Vinil Bistro(@bistrovinilchapada)

Vinil Bistrô is more like a gastropub, with a dark atmosphere and live music at night.
The focus is on the rice dishes (like risotto) and the crepes, which are also very well served.

Restaurants in São Jorge

santo cerrado risoteria(@santocerrado)

We hit the spot here at the risoteria!
As you can imagine, the menu offers risottos for all tastes, including vegan risotto, which left nothing to be desired.
The atmosphere is very pleasant, a bit boho chic, with the option of sitting on cushions on the floor or on the terrace.
On busier days, there’s also live music at night.
One risotto is enough for two hungry people to share.
We highly recommend it!

pizzeria lua nova(@pizzarialuanova)

The pizzeria has that mystical Chapada feel.
The atmosphere is ajar, half-lit and the pizza is delicious!
In addition to pizza, they also serve appetizers, broths and salads.
There’s also live music at night and it can get very lively.

Rústico Premium Grill(@rusticopremiumgrill)

Rústico is that restaurant that looks like São Paulo, but in Chapada: gourmet, well laid out and decorated and with a higher price tag.
The atmosphere is super nice, but we didn’t end up eating there.
Some friends who went said that the food is really delicious, especially for those who want to indulge in a good meat or hamburger.

Bar do Pelé(@bardopelé)

That bar worthy of Brazil, with its litrão, lots of fried food and a sound that ranges from Charlie Brown to Caetano.
We can’t think of a better definition for Bar do Pelé.

Rancho do waldomiro

If it’s country food you’ve been looking for for a hearty lunch between hikes, you’ve just found it!
Rancho do Waldomiro is a little outside the village of São Jorge and serves good home-cooked food at a great price.
Be sure to try the Matula, a traditional dish of the tropeiros of the cerrado and the house’s flagship dish.

Canela D’ema – Emporium and Pizzeria

Canela da D’Ema has a bit of everything, including a good place to buy groceries after the main market has closed, as well as local spices.
The emporium is open almost all day and is a great option for meals at alternative times, with good value for money.

We ended up going to the restaurants much more at night.
During the day, we took snacks on the trails and ate at the self-service restaurants near the waterfalls, which serve homemade food.
We liked the night-time vibe of São Jorge better.
The restaurants had better food and the bars were very lively until the early hours of the morning.
What else would you add to this list?
