OVERVIEW
- When to go: March and April are the months when the temperature is still high but the number of tourists has already dropped a lot.
The beaches will be less crowded, the heavy traffic will have returned to normal and you’ll meet the real locals.
December to February are the high season months, with parties and lots of excitement.
The winter months are cold but sunny.
- Where to stay: It all depends on your travel plans.
The island is large and the distances are greater than you might think.
Our favorite part is Lagoa da Conceição and Campeche.
That’s where the most beautiful beaches are, the center of the lagoon is super cool at night, there are local restaurants with fresh seafood and more good parties.
- Transportation: The best way to explore the island is by car and there are very affordable options.
Public transportation works well but doesn’t cover all areas of the island and can take a long time.
- Hitchhiking: If there’s one place that’s the capital of hitchhiking, it’s Floripa.
There are hitchhiking points and it’s a very common practice on the island.
- Traveling Alone: Floripa is a great place to travel alone because, as well as being safer than other destinations in Brazil, there are plenty of hostels to suit all budgets, it’s a popular destination with both foreigners and Brazilians, and it offers a variety of itinerary options.
The only thing is that the best way to get around is by car, but it might be a bit heavy to rent a car on your own.
But that doesn’t stop you from choosing an area of the island and doing everything there by bike, hitchhiking or using public transport.
- Olhar Feminino: It’s a destination where we feel safe and respected.
Most places on the island still have a small-town feel, especially Lagoa da Conceição and Campeche.
The main beaches are easily accessible and rarely completely deserted.
The people are helpful and friendly, and you meet people from all over the country living in Floripa.
