  • When to go: it really depends on the region of the country you want to visit. December to April are the driest months in the country and also the high season, especially on the Atlantic coast.

    In the north of the country, the climate is dry and it hardly ever rains.

    In this respect, it is very similar to Brazil.
    In general, the biggest risk for travelers is theft.
    Protect your belongings, avoid handling valuables in public and be very careful when making cash payments.

  • Safety for women: ask local people you trust before going anywhere.

  • LGBTQI+: LGBTQI+ travelers shouldn’t have any problems in Mexico, but they should bear in mind that they are still in a very religious country, where machismo and prejudice are still very common.
    Gay clubs, bars and groups are very popular, even in the most touristy parts of the country
  • Transportation: internal transportation in Mexico is good and varied.
    You can get almost anywhere by bus.
    Renting a car is also a good option, as it’s cheap, doesn’t require an international license and gives you much more freedom in your itinerary.
    Air travel is also a good option for long-distance journeys and, if you buy in advance, you can find good prices.
