    In May, spring begins and it’s tulip season, but August is a very lively month with lots of parties.
    What’s more, at this time of year the sun goes down at 10pm.
  • Security: The Netherlands is a very safe country and crime rates are very low compared to other parts of Europe, even for theft.
    Super safe for women traveling alone.
  • Transport: The Netherlands is well served by public transport, especially in the cities.
    If you want to visit the interior of the country, check the public transport timetables, because most of the time it stops running at 10pm.
  • Cash and cards: There are many ATMs on the streets, but some close around 10pm for security reasons.
    However, the best option is to withdraw money from Dutch banks because they don’t charge any fees.
    It’s important to remember that in Amsterdam you hardly use cash and many establishments only accept cards as a form of payment.
    However, this is not the case in supermarkets, where prepaid cards may not be accepted.
